footnotes to triangular cartographies, 2021-2020
Footnotes to triangular cartographies is a project that links worlds of the invisible between Nigeria, Brazil and Cuba. I have been sketching it and sharing experiences almost simultaneously with the rhythm and pace that they presented themselves to me. It started in Bahia, Brazil, in 2018, where I met the Osun priestess Adedoyin Olosun, from the Osogbo sacred forest in Nigeria and continued in Cuba, in 2019. The triangle was closed when I managed to visit Yoruba cities in Nigeria.
Historical, cultural, philosophical findings in these three places are my travel notes that developed into an exhibition; and are also developing into a book (by K Verlag 2022).
This is the third year I have been working on the footnotes, that opened me the doors to so many nice encounters, specially with anthropologist Moisés Lino e Silva, Priestess Olosun, Babá Joaquin Reyes, in Berlin, and Santera Raiza Morenas Cruz. To all of them I am very thankful for the generosity in exchanging with me and guiding me.
I have been exchanging with Jumoke Sanwo, artist and cultural producer based in Lagos, Nigeria, for almost two years now and we decided to launch the two channel video-installation of the project together at the website of RAI, Revolving Art-Incubator, an independent art space in Lagos. There you can find the première of the videos that contextualize the entire triangular footnotes. Click here to watch the videos: RAI platform

Research Material
This project was only possible first with the invitation to the Vila Sul Goethe Institute Residency in Salvador, Bahia, 2018. Then, with the support of IFA Künstlerkontakte 2019, that enabled me to visit Nigeria and with the Prêmio Foco Bradesco Art Rio 2018, curated by Bernardo Mosqueira, that allowed me to do a residency at the “Artista x Artista” in Havana. With the exhibition Funding IFA 2020, I managed to establish the connection with RAI, Revolving Art Incubator, in Lagos to do the première of the videos in their website. I thank also Berlin Senate Research Stipendium 2021 for concluding this works. Finally, I thank Goethe Institute São Paulo for the support in finishing the book to come in 2022.
